Dream vs. Reality

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 2

Part 1 – the main theme of my game idea is based heavily around Steampunk with Steampunk seems to have so much variety in both clothes and environment wise the methods I used to bring my idea into existence are two things Folklore (PS3) not very well know but the gameplay, environment and background story was just brilliant dialogue not the best and the other one that inspired me was Black Rock Shooter (Anime) which was mostly based in the real world but from time to time which to the dream world I won’t go into details because I’m not good at explaining stories/plots.

So I figured why not combined the 2 into one world by the main villain (Revel) obtaining items called “Dream Orbs” which fuse both the dream world and the real world into one and also turning him into, the ruler you know your typical villain obsessed about power and or taking over the world.

So the main hero (Lazell) will have a devastating event that will then leading into revenge to kill the main villain and restore the world back to the way it was.

Part 2 – Ok so the world has been turned into a Steampunk-like place which kind of looks similar to a post-apocalyptic world I though Steampunk would match the theme very well dream-like buildings that would seem difficult to make in real life giant clocks implanted into buildings to tell the time or the gears used to open up doors.

Storyline so far

An experiment inside Octagon of keeping Dreams in orbs goes wrong when Revel takes control of their operation creating chaos then soon after the world knew the name of Revel.

The Dream Orbs merged with the real world becoming apart of it.
Dreams can turn into reality and nightmares side note Dreams can turn into Nightmares and consume people.

The only way to turn the world to normal is to destroy the Dream Orbs
The Tinea a chosen group that collects Dreams/Nightmares to prevent other people from dying or consumed.

The Tinea obtain there Somnus and a weapon if they overcome there Nightmare

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Side Info

They have a special tool that they use to catch them called "Somnus" means sleep therefore preventing Nightmares etc. from being restless and trying to break free.

Also it can alter from person to person example one person could have a veil while another one could have an empty guitar case or gauntlets, grieves, guns and so on.

Battle System

Similar to Folklore (Note: was not very popular)

A description of Folklore in gameplay wise

Folklore is an action-adventure game with minor role-playing game elements, where players control characters in a third-person view to both explore their surroundings and engage in combat.
From the start, players will have a choice to play the game as either of the two lead protagonists, the young woman.
Ellen or the occult journalist Keats, both having different yet intertwining plots and play styles. The game is split into two worlds, the real world set in small sea-side Irish village of Doolin and the more fantastical Netherworld inhabited by folk creatures and spirits.
In Doolin, players lead their chosen character throughout the village and surrounding area.

When in this state, characters are unable to engage in combat or utilize their abilities and instead will be limited to exploring the village’s locations and interacting with its inhabitants, containing multiple search and slight puzzle-esque quests that progress the main story and eventually lead them to and from the Netherworld, acting as a hub between worlds and subsequent quests.
When characters pass into the Netherworld, the gameplay shifts entirely towards the action-adventure side of its genre. Basic attack techniques are performed by utilizing “folk,” various creatures and spirits that upon defeat can be absorbed for the player’s use.

When a folk is nearly defeated, its spirit will glow red, allowing players to absorb it by locking onto it and performing shaking and yanking motions with the Sixaxis motion control (rather than a conventional button interface) to reel in its energy for use.
While the player can choose from nearly all folk encountered and absorbed, only four at a time can be mapped to the controller’s main four interface/action buttons and used in quick succession for combat with different kinds of folk being better suited for certain situations and techniques such as close-combat, projectile attacks or magic.

The two playable characters themselves also differ between play styles.
While Ellen uses a variety of folk as basic strategy and favoring a defensive stance with the ability to cloak herself with folk powers, Keats uses more straight up brute force attacks with usually all round stronger folk along with the ability to release built up energy to become invincible and perform stronger attacks for a period of time.

1980's -Tetris simple yet time consuming
1990's - Metal Slug just the variety of weapons, enemies
After 2004 - Soul Calibur 3 created by Namco the same company that created Tekken I love Soul Calibur 3 simply because of its combat system, character creation, storyline the list just goes on and on everything seemed balanced the learning curve pretty big if you want to be one of the best but fun to just play in general regardless of fighting style.

The kind of game I would make a similar version of Pac-Man
Because Pac-Man was simple yet fun to play
